UPDATES! Lots Going On

The past while has been a bit of a whirlwind for me; I've been taking care of a few things I've wanted to tackle for a long time and I've also been taking on some really enjoyable new work to add to my portfolio!

New PC!

First of all, I upgraded my PC last week. It's been a long time coming and I'm so happy to finally be using a machine which can keep up with all the different programs I need. I originally wanted to update my CPU, but when I learned that my whole setup was out of date, I decided to go all-in and invest in a full range of parts in order to build an entirely new PC.

I've never built a PC from scratch before, but the process is really fun, and the final product is enormously satisfying to use. It's also reassuring to know that I can swap and change parts if it turns out I need alternatives; the machines I used before weren't designed for upgrades, so this setup will technically last me for years, allowing me to upgrade each component one by one over time.

For any nerds reading this, you can look at my parts list here. I went with a design that used some parts I already owned while integrating more updated bits and pieces, all while not costing too much overall. Pro tip: don't buy straight from the Part Picker site; go to places like Scan and Overclockers UK to pitch different offers against one another.

Thanks to Heather Stacey for giving me advice on how to go about upgrading.

Web Development Classes!

I'm really excited to announce that I'm now studying html5, JavaScript, CSS and more through Development Island. I'm most excited to see how I can really take control of the webpages I'll be building in future, but it's mostly fun because it makes me feel a bit like Neo from the Matrix...

In all seriousness, I'm very much looking forward to how these classes are going to help me provide better, more specified services to my clients in future. Like my PC upgrade, this has been a long time coming, and I'm thrilled to finally have the opportunity to become a qualified developer!

Give Me Coffee NI

You may have seen in my portfolio that I've taken on a new client. An old friend came to me with an idea for selling coffee from independent bean roasters all over the UK and Ireland. As someone who's always loved and wanted to learn more about coffee, the idea really got me going and we got to work right away.

The site is already looking gorgeous in its early stages, even if I do say so myself. The colours and layouts gel so well with the theme of the site, and I can't wait until it goes live so I can show it to everyone. Keep your eyes on my social media profiles and on my portfolio for news on its launch!

Thanks for sticking with me all the way through the post. SO much has happened recently and I've enjoyed retelling it all for you to read. Be sure to look out for my new marketing content appearing across all my profiles too; Antrim Enterprise Agency just finished helping me develop my messages to potential clients!

For now, stay safe and stay home. If you've got an idea, get in touch and we'll make it happen together!
